Experience clubs and organizations within NNCS! Get INVOLVED!!! Being involved is important for many reasons. Students get to meet new people, have fun, and prepare for the future. We offer many clubs. Feel free to contact any of the advisors to find out more information and when the next meeting is! 

 

 

 

 

Art Club

Art Club is a student led club that meets after school and is responsible for the murals around school. They meet more often when a project is underway. During the time of the project, students can also work during free periods. Previous projects have included entrances, music walls and sports murals.

Bel-Aires

Bel-aires is a small, select group of singers that meet outside of the regular school day. This group gives students opportunities to sing at higher levels and exposure to more types of music. They sing mostly pop and jazz oriented music.

Get Involved with your class and run for President, Vice-President, Treasurer, or Secretary.  Help plan out class events, run class meetings, or have input on decisions involving your grade level.

Drama Club

Drama Club gives students an opportunity to learn about acting and performing. Within this club, students help and prepare musical auditions, and travels to see shows, which gives exposure to higher performance levels. Drama club helps students overcome stage fright and is a lot of fun.

eSports

Compete on a team playing organized, multiplayer video games against other eSports teams.

Foreign Language Club

Foreign Language Club - Students raise money to be able to travel to Spanish-speaking countries as well as participate in Spanish cultural trips within the United States. Students are taught to keep an open mind to other cultures and to gain responsibility, directional skills, time management skills and team working skills.

Jazz Band

Students in Jazz Band play a variety of music including  Jazz from many decades as well as Rock and Pop.  The Jazz Band rehearses after school, performs at the music department's concerts and plays gigs out in our community. Jazz Band is open to any HS student and select 8th graders.  Jazz Band is a credit bearing class and  appears on your transcript.

Key Club

A student led organization that focuses on helping our school and community. Key Club is an international club and has many aspects. Students gain leadership qualities, learn to work as a team, and have the opportunity to meet many people and build awesome relationships.

Musical & Stage Crew

The musical helps students with public speaking and stage fright. Students learn teamwork and strong relationships are built. On the stage crew, students learn about and work with the lights, sound and backstage.

National Honor Society

National Honor Society recognizes and promotes the qualities of scholarship, leadership, and service in students. Students that are part of the NHS are highly regarded for their academics and character. It is both an honor and a commitment that students strive to withhold throughout their high school experience. Students may be inducted, if eligible, in their 10th grade year.

Robotics

Robotics is a student lead club where students learn to design, build and operate a robot. There is a local competition held at Clarkson. If you are interested in construction, engineering, and/or computers, this is a club for you! There are many opportunities that follow with robotics.

School Newspaper  

The school newspaper offers an avenue for high school students to practice basic journalism skills and have their voices heard.  Students will learn how to publish their articles in a variety of places, including but not limited to: administrator newsletters, North Country Now, and at least one full, printed newspaper per semester.

Science Honor Society

Science Honor Society gives students the opportunity to be recognized for their achievement in the study and practice of science during their high school career. The goal is to provide students with ample opportunities to explore their scientific interests outside of the classroom. Students will have the opportunity to come together with the common purpose of a commitment to service and excellence in the field of science. Students will become eligible after taking 1.5 years of high school science and must take a science course for every year of high school.

Speech & Debate Club

Speech and Debate Club is open to students in grades 7-12. 
Students compete against schools in our area in a variety of public speaking events.  They will receive a score from a judge who will be evaluating the student's effectiveness in delivering the content, vocal delivery and physical presence. The student will receive feedback from the judge on areas of strength and areas for improvement. Certificates are given for the strongest presentations.
Practices will be held after school.  Competition events are on Saturdays.

Student Council (High School)

Student Council is an organization geared towards increasing the student voice. We work closely with administrators to provide student input and take action in order to make our school a better place. Previous projects have included hosting a hygiene drive, improving the girl's locker room, providing accessible seating in classrooms, and helping with cosmetic decisions for capital project renovations.

Travel Club

Students have a chance to travel outside the U.S. and are able to experience other cultures. The club includes great practice in planning and achieving. Juniors and seniors are able to go on the trip.

Varsity Club

The goal of Varsity Club is to promote and build school spirit. Varsity Club is responsible for spirit week, pep rallies, and the famous Green and Gold Night. Students do not need to be athletes to be in this club. Through this club, students gain leadership, public speaking skills and the ability to work in a team/group environment.

Whiz Quiz

Whiz Quiz - This is a club that competes against other North Country Schools in a single elimination tournament. This club gives students the opportunity to see how a T.V. studio works as well as gain the ability to work in a team setting. Whiz Quiz celebrates academic achievement of students.

Yearbook

Yearbook is for juniors and seniors only, and is counted as a credited class. It gives students an opportunity to photograph, design, promote and sell the yearbook. The yearbook staff gets to choose what the cover design is as well as what pages are within the book.
