Regulations for Public Use of School Facilities
- School activities shall have first preference.
- The custodian on duty is to be regarded as the representative of the Board of Education.
- The use of school facilities shall be supervised by the custodian on duty or a designated member of the staff, if a school related activity.
- A minimum charge, established by the Board, will be paid to the District for any custodial duty which extends above and beyond his/her regular work load. The Board may elect to waive a fee charge.
- Only the room or designated area granted in the original request shall be utilized.
- Classroom materials and/or equipment shall not be used without specific permission.
- All rooms and area shall be left in the orderly condition in which it was received.
- There shall be no use, possession, sale or distribution of alcohol or controlled substance as defined in Board Policy 5212.1, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, of intoxicating beverages at any time in the school buildings or on school property.
- There shall be no smoking at any time on school property.
- Regular gym shoes must be worn when sports or games are conducted on the gymnasium floors.
- Children's activities must be under strict supervision of adult sponsors at all times.
- Authorized cafeteria personnel shall operate kitchen equipment. A minimum charge, established by the Board, per hour per person employed will be charged when use of the kitchen is required.
- Only authorized personnel shall operate stage, sound, and projection equipment. If a member of the professional staff is required to be present, he/she shall be paid at the negotiated rate.
- The district will provide, for a fee, an employee to supervise parking and oversee the building, in general, for all large public gatherings.
- Responsibility for order and safety must be assured by the applicant. All applicants shall designate an adult who will take responsibility for discipline, protection of school property, liability for damages, etc. Any damage to school property shall be reimbursed by the organization using same.
- The space used shall be vacated no later than 11:00 PM, unless a specific exception is granted in the permit.
- A detailed financial statement showing total receipts and expenses for each use of building(s) or grounds for which admission is charged must be available on request.
- It shall be understood that the Superintendent of Schools or designee has sole authority to grant or reject requests for the use of school facilities and equipment.
- Any non-school related group using school facilities for entertainment or recreational activities must present the district with a Certificate and Endorsement Form (CG2026 or broader) listing the district as Additional Insured. Please see page on Insurance Agreement - Use of Facilities.
- In case of an emergency, all buildings will be available to the American Red Cross.
- All individuals shall act in a manner consistent with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, as well as all policies, regulations and/or rules of the School District including policy and regulation 1520 and 1520-R, Public Conduct on School Property.
